About the Port Authority

Building a healthy and prosperous community requires hard work and strong partnerships with neighborhood, waterway and other economic development partners, as well as the private sector and various levels of government.

Since 1932, the Saint Paul Port Authority has contributed to the East Metro's growth and prosperity by providing businesses with cleaner land on which to expand, space on the Mississippi River to receive and ship commodities efficiently, loans for real estate and equipment purchases, and job training and career development for workers.

We have carved 19 manufacturing business centers out of polluted and often abandoned land, and since 2000 we have helped create or retain more than 12,000 good-paying jobs in Saint Paul.

We continue our job creation and brownfield redevelopment efforts in Saint Paul, and we are exploring job-creation opportunities elsewhere in the East Metro area of the Twin Cities.
