Phalen Corridor Partnership sweeps international redevelopment awards
The Phalen Corridor Initiative, a collaboration of more than 60 Saint
Paul community organizations, swept the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency's awards for development of the new Phalen Boulevard on the city's East Side.

MPCA-Port cement strong redevelopment partnership
In September as three businesses made
their final plans to move into the Saint
Paul Port Authority's Great Northern
Business Center South, the Minnesota
Pollution Control Agency made their
lenders breathe a little easier.
Port essential piece to business financing puzzles
Saint Paul Port Authority loan guarantees over
the past two years - totaling over $200,000 - provided an
essential piece to financing puzzles that helped
one environmental cleanup company's
employees accomplish a leveraged management
buyout; a bakery expand its
operations and a manufacturer to
make the necessary improvements to
accommodate that expansion.

Port assists HealthEast Reinvestment
A little creative problem solving goes a long way.
Recently it helped the Saint Paul Port Authority and
HealthEast Care System to team up on a novel prescription
for economic vitality - using one former hospital
building in the Midway to help finance the rehabilitation
and expansion of a hospital downtown.
Port buys and will redevelop former Globe factory site
A used and abused piece of Saint Paul's East Side
with a long industrial history is in line to be cleaned up
and reused in the Saint Paul Port Authority's continuing
economic redevelopment efforts - a move celebrated by
the site's neighbors.

New Port Program Trains Workers for Business Centers
EMPLOYER SOLUTIONS INC., a Saint Paul Port
Authority subsidiary, has begun a new program to
assist residents of Saint Paul's lower-income neighborhoods
to get jobs in two of its business centers.

The Phalen Corridor is quickly turning Saint Paul's
East Side from wallflower to the belle of the ball.
"The Corridor is Saint Paul's new Cinderella story," says
