Developed Business Centers

The Saint Paul Port Authority affects the environment in a very personal way. The air we breathe, the water we drink and the soil beneath our feet are improved by the Port’s work. Working closely with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and our other state, local and federal partners, we have turned 19 polluted and often abandoned inner-city sites into environmentally friendly manufacturing job centers.

One of our more recent business centers, the former Globe Building Materials site on Saint Paul’s East Side is now ready for redevelopment.

“Not only has an unsafe eyesore been removed, but the extensive contaminants have also been eliminated to meet cleanup levels,” said Nick Linnemann, project manager for Landwehr Construction Co., one of the contractors on the Globe project.

“The Port Authority has established itself as a leader in renewing and improving undesirable propertyes. It has been aggressive in upgrading its older, unused and contaminated city areas.”
