Workforce Services
Employer Solutions, Inc. (ESI), a nonprofit workforce development organization, is owned by the Saint Paul Port Authority and the Midway and Saint Paul Area Chambers of Commerce. ESI is one of four Port Authority lines of business.
ESI’s mission is to meet employers’ hiring needs and provide training and job opportunities to the disadvantaged, non-traditional workforces in urban areas.
ESI assists businesses in finding the marketable skills of non-traditional workers and hiring and promoting these workers into competitively paying jobs with benefits. This contributes to the revitalization of urban neighborhoods and complements the work of the Chambers and the Port Authority.
ESI works in several ways:
Customized Job Training/Workforce Development Initiatives
Identifying business workforce needs, assessing skills of disadvantaged residents, and designing high-quality, demand-driven customized job training and workforce development initiatives involving public, private and nonprofit partners.
Workforce Related Business Consulting Services
Assisting businesses to achieve exceptional results through well designed and maintained organizational policies and practices, and by connecting employees’ personal goals to corporate performance (employee engagement and development, organizational effectiveness, talent management, internal training).
Training and Capacity Building
Providing training to public and nonprofit organizations to help them become more effective with business customers.
Systems Change
Providing contracted consulting services to public sector agencies and departments to develop more business demand-driven policies, training and programs. Working as a translator, communicating the business perspective to education, training and workforce development entities. Infusing shared perspectives to elected officials and policy makers to serve the needs of business and increase employment opportunities for non-traditional workers.
Workforce Intermediary Services
Working at the intersection of Economic Development, Business Development, Workforce Development, and Community Development; identifying priorities for urban development, job creation, business retention, and redevelopment.
