The Red Rock Industrial District is part of the nearly 2,000-acre acquisition by the Port Authority in and around Pigs Eye Lake. The Port Authority developed 371 acres for the Red Rock Industrial District for intense industrial uses, and the remainder of the land has been dedicated to the City of Saint Paul for park purposes.

Materials manufactured, managed, or processed through the Red Rock Industrial District include steel scrap, asphalt, grain, fertilizer, coal and coke.
