This 99-acre business center is south of the Saint Paul Municipal Airport. A barge channel was dug and is maintained by the Port Authority for river commerce for adjacent Port Authority tenants.

Materials managed or processed through the Southport Industrial District include chemicals, recyclable metals, drinking water treatment and waste water treatment chemicals. In 2010, the Port completed the installation of a new dock wall and a stormwater management system at Southport to better position the terminal for river-shipping operations.
