Beacon Bluff

Visions of the Saint Paul Port Authority’s planned redevelopment of 46 acres of former 3M Co. factories, buildings and land are as varied as the more than 200 people who showed up on a cold November evening for a community discussion about the future of the site. Key elements of that vision from neighborhood residents include:

  • Competitive-paying jobs.
  • Improved tax base.
  • Neighborhood friendly.
  • Environmentally friendly.
  • Historically sensitive.

All of that, and more, are part of discussions that will continue between the Port and the community. Area district councils – Payne Phalen District 5 Planning Council, District 2 Community Council-Greater East Side, Dayton’s Bluff District 4 Community Council – the East Side Area Business Association, the Payne Arcade Business Association, and the Port called the first meeting.
